Similarly, this is why I'll never consent to a search of my vehicle. The police aren't there to be your friend, they aren't there to protect you or your rights, they are there to enforce the law as agents of the state. Period. Your rights only protect you as far as you are willing to hold to them. If you voluntarily give them up they aren't doing you much good.
